- The LAB, based in Glendale, Arizona, is the Southwest's premiere mixed martial arts training center. This state-of-the-art facility has over 14,000 square feet of training area and four training rooms.
- In addition to three rooms of grappling and mat space, The LAB offers a full weight and cardio room which includes cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights and plyometric equipment. LAB members also have access to locker rooms, child care, massage therapy, spa services and a fully stocked retail store.
- The LAB employs a world renowned team of instructors with over 100 years of combined training experience in multiple disciplines, to ensure that each member exceeds their personal goals. Programs are offered in Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, Boxing, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Weight Training and Sports Conditioning.
- Classes are set up to accommodate all ages and skill levels, from the individual fighter to every member of the family. The children's classes correspond with adult classes, creating a truly family-friendly environment, and The LAB's expanded hours provide opportunities to train morning and night.
Gritz wins Strikeforce Debut

LAB Elite fighter, Chris “Gritz” Gruetzemacher, extended his win streak to 5 wins in a row on Friday the 13th of August with another TKO victory over Veteran Ryan Diaz. Strikeforce is the largest MMA organization to come to the Valley of the Sun since Arizona adopted universal MMA rules a few months ago.
Not only was it Gruetzemacher’s debut in the Strikeforce organization, it was also his first fight at 145 lbs. Although it was an evening of “firsts” for Gritz, it had no effect on his performance or the outcome. After the feeling out period in the first round, Diaz showed his quick striking skills with a few high kicks. Once the fight went to the clinch, it took only moments before Gritz took his opponent to the ground and struck him effectively from the guard which resulted in a cut that impeded Diaz’s vision and forced the referee and doctor to stop the fight and raise Chris’s hand in victory.
When Chris is asked about his victory, he is the first to acknowledge that his win is a team effort. He recognizes his coaching staff: John Crouch, Travis Jeffery, Jarret Aki, Rick Roufus, Andy Russell, Bryan Scambler, and his fellow teammates. Lastly and most importantly, Gritz thanks his friends, family and his extended LAB family for their continued love and support.

WEC announces Phoenix as winner of the Takedown Hometown Challenge!
WEC announced on August 18th that Phoenix will be the hosting city of the WEC fights in December!
Victories all Around at the Back to School: Saturday Night Spar

At the Back to School: Saturday Night Spar at The MMA LAB, LAB students went 5-1 during matches between students from Universal Kickboxing. In a classy display of competition and sportsmanship, both schools came together and put on sparring matches in front of their family and friends. The match included youth, female and adult students and was a huge success. Congrats to the winners of the matches: Colton Anglin, Cindy Guererro, Jaron Padello, Ricardo Moreno, Brandon Behrens, and Dan Treguboff. It was apparent that both schools had prepared well and were shining examples their academies. Many thanks to all of our sponsors and businesses that provided raffle items and donations, without their contribution the event would not have been such a success.
